PROJECT:
Video made for the 5th UNI Global Union World Congress at Liverpool, as part of the International Campaign Against Nuclear Weapons in which UNI is taking part as a member of Ican (Nobel Peace Prize Laureate).
This video is focused on the resurgence of antidemocratic and racist forces and the rise of hate speeches as challenges for global peace that polarize societies and are being used as an excuse to increase the already excessive military spending, with the still lurking nuclear threat.
Stirring up a light of hope, the video goes through different historical moments when trade unions have fought for peace, since the appearance of the ILO in 1919 to the current peace process in Colombia, developing the notion that peace is only possible with social justice and with respect for human rights and democracy.
